Electricians - go home!

Electrician(s) spent two full days, Saturday & Sunday, re-wiring, spacing receptacles evenly between cabinets and counter top, and wiring for rest of built-ins.  Installers are due this Friday for entertainment centers, a desk and split-linen.  This was supposed to be about the kitchen getting done but the GC had to figure out a way to run the vent since the joists are not running the way we need them to be running. The easiest way is to take the vent along the ceiling of the kitchen and through the outside wall.  Crown from cabinets will cover it except for the part that goes above the entry into the dining room.  Can't wait to see the small "soffit" he has to make.  There is no other way to run the vent unless we take it up through the roof which would be a huge expense.  GC will be here Tuesday to install the vent.  Come to think of it, not sure why we really need a vent...I've been saying I'm not cooking on this new stove.

We picked out the granite on Saturday.  Went to Sun Valley & Panorama City Friday to look at granite at three of the places where they had the largest and nicest selections.  My favorite was Mascarello, that I saw first locally, and also found in the valley.  None of these granite yards had it in stock. Sold out!  So we started gravitating towards Purple Dunes, and were lucky to find a few slabs with very subtle shades of purple and blue that would work for us.  We put a hold on those slabs.  Not convinced of this selection, on Saturday morning, before the baseball game, I went back to the granite yard near us, and the 3 slabs of Mascarello were still there.  When we were ahead 14-5, we left the game and by 2:30 pm Saturday we had a "sold" sign on those slabs!
